AYURVEDA
The Sanskrit words “Ayur,” which means life, and “Veda,” which means wisdom, are the roots of the name “Ayurveda.” Together, they represent the science of life. More than just a system of medicine, Ayurveda is a profound science of holistic well-being, emphasizing natural healing and the harmonious balance of body, mind, and spirit.
Its origins date back thousands of years, deeply entwined with India’s cultural, spiritual, and medicinal heritage. According to ancient scriptures, Lord Brahma — the Creator and a member of the holy trinity — first received the divine wisdom of Ayurveda. He shared this sacred knowledge with his son Daksha Prajapati, who then passed it on through generations. Eventually, it reached Lord Dhanwantari, the celestial physician and god of healing, revered as the father of Ayurveda. Lord Dhanwantari, in turn, imparted this wisdom to eminent sages such as Atreya, Bharadvaja, Kashyapa, Sushruta, Parashara, and Charaka, whose teachings continue to shape Ayurvedic practice to this day.
